Connecting Active Military Members and Veterans to Behavioral Health Services

The WAServes team welcomes Valley Cities to the WAServes network. Valley Cities is a new provider in the WAServes network, helping clients in the Benefits and Housing & Shelter service categories. Valley Cities is a community behavioral health center established by the people of South King County in 1965.

Today, it operates comprehensive outpatient clinics in Auburn, Enumclaw, Federal Way, Kent, Meridian (Northgate), Midway (Des Moines), Rainier Beach, and Renton. Valley Cities Veterans Program exists to extend services to these veterans and their family members by offering a unique two-prong approach:

  1. Veteran Navigators are available to help King County veterans to navigate through the sometimes-confusing maze of available local resources. This assistance often includes helping them obtain their DD-214 (proof of having served in the military) and applying for benefits with VA Puget Sound. As needed, they can also help with housing, financial benefits, medical benefits, employment, upgrading discharge, education or other specific issues.
  2. Veteran Therapists are available to provide military culturally sensitive therapy to veterans.

Eligibility Criteria for Valley Cities Military and Veterans Services

Clients who have served in any branch of the U.S. Military and have been given an Honorable, Medical, or General Under Honorable Conditions Discharge are eligible for Valley Cities’s services. Current spouses or dependent children may also be eligible. The Navigators will help determine eligibility based on individual circumstances. All services are free to qualified Veterans, Active Duty, National Guard, Reservists, and their family members. Also, clients must have a King County address.

Thank you, Valley Cities!
